Caraval- Stephanie Garber

RC: 3.5~3.75 stars

Recommends it to: Readers who have enjoyed the atmosphere of The Night Circus.

For those of you who have read the Night Circus by E. Morgenstern, you will be familiar with the awe that the magic of the circus sparked in you.

The Night Circus had, in my opinion, one flaw. The circus itself was fantastical, I always felt there was distance between the reader and the characters. You might attend the circus but you will never be a part of it.

This is not the case for Caraval. Reading it was like stepping into a dream. You will find yourself immediately immersed into a magical circus/carnival. And it is wonderful.

Despite it's wondrous setting, the book does have its flaws. For one the relationships between it's characters. They felt rushed, strained and forced. The ending also felt too easy and feel a bit short of what I was expecting.

Even still, I am looking forward to the sequel.
