Let me start with the thing I didn't like:
The assassination attempts: I found, that the novel was extremely redundant. I get that she was the Commander's food taster, but seriously it was too much
Now for the things I liked:
The plot: entertaining
The characters: especially Yelena for her bravery and her character development and Valek for his kindness and loyalty ( he's very VERY loyal :)
The Commander: I know this should be part of the the characters section but I decided to give the Commander a separate section, because there was a lot to say about him. I guess I expected the Commander to be Evil because in novels it's usually like that, but, to my surprise, he wasn't. He was fair (except for the death sentence), he gave equal rights to men and women, and he gave everyone a fair shot at success in life.
Definitely give this book a read.
